Dosing Edibles

Consuming edibles has become an increasingly popular way of consuming cannabis. They are kinder to the lungs and preferred by those suffering from chronic illnesses that need to refrain from smoking. Edibles come in a wide variety of products, including cookies, cookies, gummies, and chocolates.

The THC content of edibles is an important factor in choosing your dosage and can range anywhere from 10mg upwards.

Edibles also take significantly longer to kick in, with effects lasting much longer as they are absorbed through the digestive system. Because you are processing the Cannabis from your small intestine, new metabolites will be produced and additional psychoactive compounds will be activated which is one of the reasons why edibles have stronger effects.

It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours for the effects to kick in. If you have taken an edible and do not feel the effects right away, it is critically important to wait. Cannabis interacts with people in individual ways and might not produce the same experience for everyone, thus it’s best to take things slow. How much you’ve eaten, your metabolism and your tolerance are a few things that can influence how long it will take for edibles to activate in your system and how strong the experience will be.

The common starting dosage for an edible is around 10mg. If you are new to edibles or cannabis altogether, it’s best to start with a smaller dose, as you can always increase your dosage. Those with a higher tolerance and familiarity may need a larger dosage to feel the effects.
